Here’s the truth – if we want our lovely abodes to stay lovely like the first time we stepped into them, we have to put an effort in maintaining them clean and organized.
On the other hand, we also understand that cleaning is something we all don’t look forward doing. But here are a few hacks to make your next condo cleaning session quick and easy with ways you probably didn’t know yet!
We all have those pairs of socks that we maybe outgrew or too old and loose to wear already. Before putting them in the trash, you can use them in cleaning the blinds! No more taking the blinds down to clean them –just hang them there, dip your old socks in a mixture of water and vinegar and start running your hands over it to get off the dust.
Hearing these two kitchen residents as cleaning hack tools is not new to us, but did you know that you can also use them to remove that stinky smell in your towels? Yes! Stinky means dirty and we don’t want to be unhygienic, of course. Just fill your washing machine with hot water, a cup of vinegar and run through an entire wash cycle. For the next wash cycle, put a half cup of baking soda with hot water. Finally, don’t forget to bask them all in the heat of the sun outside!
Also our odor remover bestie, lemons give us a lot of perks in life. So in your condo, when life gives you lemons, use it to treat your microwave with lemon water. Cut a couple of lemons in quarters and place them inside a glass dish or a glass jar. Let it boil, hit stop and let it sit for a minute or two. You can also freeze some slices of lemons with vinegar and use them to sanitize your garbage disposal.
One major problem we have in our condos is when our pets or kids who can’t sit still stain the carpets. Here’s a hack to remove those – dilute ammonia in hot water and put it in a spray while you’re pre-heating your iron. Spray the ammonia mixture on the carpet stain and spread a clean towel over it. Place your iron on the towel and watch as the stain has come out of the carpet and is now on your towel!
Sharing one secret you should definitely know especially because you are now a condo owner. No need to call an expert – you can unclog your toilet by yourself with just a few cups of hot water! Remember to shut the water supply behind that toilet bowl first to prevent water from overflowing. Then, get ready with your plunger while pouring a few cups of hot water. Let it sit there for a while, and then use the plunger to push and pull water through the hole in the bowl. You can also squirt two or three worth down of dishwashing soap to take care of the odor and flush it after a little while. It helps “break up” the clog as well!
